This wonderfully restored King Seiko Hi-Beat 5626-7110 is a stunning example of vintage King Seiko. This watch was only sold in the Japanese market and is quite rare in North America. This King Seiko case design is a slightly more compact version compared to the more common -7000 King Seiko case, and I personally think it is more aesthetically appealing. The case is inspired by Taro Tanaka’s Grammar of Design philosophy and features beautiful polished sharp facets and edges. This King Seiko features a one piece case design in which there is no caseback and, in theory, less points of entry for water intrusion. The watch has a wonderful sunburst silver dial and a beautiful set of silver hands with black highlights. The indicies are square applied markers at each hour. The watch features a new mineral glass crystal, delicately cleaned dial and hands, a beautiful authentic high-end strap, restored original case, and a King Seiko automatic movement that has been overhauled and restored to OEM specs. The watch is in beautiful restored condition as per our extensive restoration and authentication process.
This King Seiko Hi-Beat features the King Seiko 5626 automatic movement with day and date. The Day can be selected by the wearer to appear in either English or Kanji (as shown). The watch runs at 28,800 vph, which in 1971, was considered a very high beat rate. The movement featured in this watch comes from an era when Japanese movements were starting to beat out many Swiss manufacturers in accuracy competitions, making it an interesting piece of history. There is a gold King Seiko medallion featured on the caseback that sits against your skin when you wear it.
The watch is 37mm in diameter but does wear slightly larger due to its shape. The strap is 18mm. The dial, movement, crown, case, buckle are all signed King Seiko. The caseback and crown have new gaskets and combined with the new crystal, this watch features mid-range water resistance (not swimmable).
As with all our restored pieces we sell, this 1971 King Seiko Hi-Beat Automatic comes with our zero-headache warranty.
