It belongs to a family of movements based on the manual wind calibre AS 1687/1688. The automatic mechanism is a collaborative effort between Doxa, Eberhard, Favre-Leuba, Girard-Perregaux, and Zodiac. The differences between the 31.19, 31.29, 31.4, and 31.9 variations are not known. The movement's functions include automatic winding and a sweep seconds hand. It was commonly used around 1965.
