It does not include a separate escape-wheel cock, distinguishing it from other movements in the same family. Variations existed in the balances used, but the differences were minor enough that parts could be interchanged. The movements within this family, including the 970, 980, 987, 999, 1014, 1036, 1047, 1056, 1090, 1210, 1217, 1251, 1254, 1276, 1375, and 1386, have similar appearances and share a height of 3.0mm. The Excelsior Park 4 movement is manually wound and features a sub-second function.
