This design allows for a low profile and allows space for a large balance. However, it requires high precision and shake-free gears due to the numerous wheels involved in the coupling between the second- and minute hands. The movement includes various functions such as automatic winding, sweep seconds, shock protection, and a day and date display. Both the day and date can be quickly set, and the calendar also offers a quickset feature.
