It features a hunter calibre, model 6, and is equipped with a bimetallic screw balance and a Breguet hairspring. The movement incorporates a negative stem mechanism, allowing for switching between winding and setting in the lever position. Similar to the 210 model, the escapement of the Elgin 428 has been modified. Additional functions of this movement include stem winding, which can be switched using either the crown or the lever, and a sub-second display.
