The development of the automatic mechanism was a collaborative effort between Doxa, Eberhard, Favre-Leuba, Girard-Perregaux, and Zodiac. The specific differences between the 31 and 31.09 are not known. The movement includes functions such as automatic winding and a sweep second hand. It was used during the period around 1960.
