The placement of the minute wheel aside the barrel, driven by the barrel through an intermediate wheel, contributes to the overall compactness of the movement. Additionally, the revolution direction of the rotor determines whether the rocker wheels directly or indirectly drive the ratchet wheel. Intermediate wheels C and G are used to align the train, self-winding assembly, and barrel in a single layer, achieving a low profile without compromising stability.
