Return To ShopThe Certina 21-014 is a manually-wound mechanical watch movement that was produced in low volume, primarily for De Luxe models starting from 1962. This movement features an indirectly driven minute wheel, as well as a space-saving rocker direction inverter. The self-winding gear is integrated into the movement, resulting in a remarkably thin yet robust design for its time, similar in thinness to contemporary movements with micro rotors. The placement of the minute wheel aside the barrel, driven by the barrel through an intermediate wheel, contributes to the overall compactness of the movement. Additionally, the revolution direction of the rotor determines whether the rocker wheels directly or indirectly drive the ratchet wheel. Intermediate wheels C and G are used to align the train, self-winding assembly, and barrel in a single layer, achieving a low profile without compromising stability. The ratchet wheel on the barrel is composed of two gears coupled to the center section, allowing for independent manual winding and reducing wear. The Certina 21-014 movement incorporates several functions, including automatic winding and sweep seconds, and has been in use since 1962.
The Certina 21-014 features the following functions:
