It offers the flexibility of having a direct sub- or sweep second function with the same plate and bridges, achieved by exchanging the positions of the 2nd and 4th wheels. The variant with a sweep second includes an intermediate wheel to connect the center pinion with the minute wheel at the sub-second position. With only one wheel overlapping the barrel in the center, this movement maintains a relatively moderate height for a pin-lever mechanism.
